R&D on Lightweight Construction Machinery Wheel Rims

Recently, domestic component manufacturers have stepped up technical research and development for lightweight construction machinery wheel rims. Focusing on material upgrading and structural topology optimisation, they are tackling the challenge of balancing weight‑reduction performance and structural strength under heavy‑duty operating conditions.

With finite‑element simulation analysis, the R&D team optimises stress distribution on rims and spokes. High‑strength steel and variable‑cross‑section designs are adopted to achieve effective weight reduction while meeting requirements for yield strength and fatigue resistance, without compromising welding reliability and service life.

Lightweight wheel rims lower overall machine weight and energy consumption, well suited for electric construction machinery. Relevant technologies have passed bench‑test validation. Further technical iterations will accelerate the upgrade of domestic wheel rims towards high strength and light weight, supporting the industry’s green transition.
